This is the story of the life and times of Wangai Maathai, who founded the Green Belt Movement and who won the Nobel Prize for Peace in 2004 for her role in environment conservation and women’s rights. She was appointment assistant minister for Environment and Natural Resources in the government of President Mwai Kibaki, succeeding only after a long battle against Kenya’s second president Daniel Moi.
